Amara
âHe threatened your brother?â When I asked Killian about his conversation with Amir, that was the last thing I expected him to say. No, not true. He shocked me more by saying it would be fine. âHow are you not worried?â
Killian chuckled as he settled into the executive chair beside me on the plane, his long legs sprawling in a casual way that boasted his relaxed state. âHunter has one of the best security details in the world. And even if Amir manages to get through them, he then has to take my brother down. Which, believe me, wonât be easy.â
âIsnât he, like, a businessman?â
âWho has a penchant for martial arts and weapons, just like me.â He grabbed my hand and brought it up to his lips, nibbling my thumb. âMy brother can take care of himself. Trust me.â
âBut you donât know what Amir is capable of,â I pressed, not at all put at ease. âIâve seen what he can do, Killian.â
âSimilarly, you donât know what my brother is capable of,â he countered, smiling. âIf it were me, would you be this concerned? Or should I be jealous?â
âThatâs not the point. You need to at least warn him.â
âAlready done, kitten. Would you like to hear his reply?â
âYou told him about Amir?â
âI informed him that my recent work assignment mentioned him in passing.â He released my hand to pull out his phone, scrolling. âHereâs what he said.â He showed me the screen.
Excellent. San Francisco is fucking boring. I could use the distraction.
âHe sounds just like you,â I admitted.
âYeah, except he runs a billion-dollar corporation. Anyone who touches him is an idiot. I wish Assad luck in his endeavor.â He pocketed his phone just as a flight attendant sauntered into the main cabin.
âMister Bedivere,â she greeted, her voice a sultry murmur. âCan I get either of you anything for takeoff?â
âScotch on ice,â he replied before glancing at me. âAnything for you, sweetheart?â
âCoffee.â We just arrived in Cairo a few hours ago and were already leaving. I needed caffeine. A lot of it.
âCream and sugar?â she asked in a tone that grated on my nerves.
Killian chuckled. âShe prefers it black,â he said before I could comment, his dark eyes finding mine. âAre you hungry?â
After our dinner experience? âNo.â
He considered me for a moment, then turned back to the flight attendant. âIâm in the mood for dessert. Can you prepare a sundae bar once weâre in the air?â
Her expression lit up like heâd just asked her to marry him. âOh, yes. Of course, sir.â She whirled around, her ass swinging as she went, and disappeared.
âI think sheâs hoping youâll eat her with the sundae,â I said, frowning after her. âUnless sheâs always this chipper?â A thought occurred to me then. âIs she your usual attendant?â The flight we took to Cairo was staffed by three men. No women.
Killianâs lips twitched. âNo. Iâve never met her. But the company I hire supplies all sorts of services, and she might be misinterpreting my needs for the night.
